A Divinely Timed Refund

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he hearth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

1 John 5:14,15

Kim was asked to be the marketing director of a new restaurant that a young couple had started. Having been led to pray for this particular building over a year before, and having no idea why God was laying this business area on her heart for prayer caused her to accept the position as a divine assignment even though there was no likely financial reimbursement for her time and effort.

Over the next year and a half, she would see how God would give her opportunity to minister to the owners and staff.

While the business was well liked and quite a number of customers were coming in, it still was barely able to stay open. Often she would sit down with the two owners and pray for them and the business.

Then one situation happened that lead all of them to know that God truly hears prayer.

They were facing a financial crisis and were short on funds to make payroll and to pay the bills. It was right at that moment that a refund came in for the purchase of an operating system they were using that enabled them to meet their immediate bills. But the day after making payment of these bills they received a notice that the refund was three time the amount they were due. Therefore, the company would be withdrawing the overpayment the next day.

What were they to do? They had already spent the funds to pay bills! This would cause overdraft charges or ruin their accounts with suppliers.

Together they prayed about the problem and asked the Lord for help.

The next day when the mail arrived there was a rebate check for the energy-saving electrical appliances they had purchased in starting up the business that covered the very amount that was to be withdrawn that day. Together they thanked God for His answer to prayer and for His loving response to their needs.
